Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) Therapy Services in Rancho Cucamonga, California

Has your child been newly diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder?

You wonder why your child was diagnosed with Autism. You’ve tried your hardest to keep it together for yourself and your family. You want to be strong to support and nurture your child, but you have no idea where to start. You wonder what this diagnosis means, and you fear the worst. You want to help your child, but you don’t know how to relate to them. You don’t know what to do to get them to pay attention or even play or interact with you.

You know you are doing your best, but you can’t help but wonder if you’re the one to blame. Everyone you’ve talked to says it’s not your fault, but you can’t help but feel guilty. Sometimes you feel like this is all a normal part of parenting, yet you sense that there must be something more, something better. You can't take another day of your life staying the same. You want a better understanding of what this diagnosis means. You crave support and to know how Autism will impact your child, you, and your family. You want to find someone who will not only be able to offer that support for you and your child, but someone who will really listen and understand this diagnosis.

I specialize in Autism and I am here to help!

Hi my name is Vanessa Fontes or Dr. Fontes and I am a psychologist/therapist who has experience providing support to parents, therapy for children diagnosed with Autism, assessments for Autism, and in the past ABA treatment. I help children with Autism and you to understand the implications and to push past the stigma of an Autism diagnosis. I provide the space to voice frustrations, connect with emotions, and empower you to feel heard and understood, while highlighting strengths, and helping you relate to each other in a new way. Together we can create the change needed to engage your child, learn new ways of interacting with them, and ways of coping. With therapy you can create change for your child, yourself, and your family. You can gain the skills to support your child with this diagnosis and know what to do on the days when you feel overwhelmed.

How will you and your child get the support you need?

We will work together on a weekly basis to work on your goals and make the changes you seek. During the first session, I guide you toward creating goals based on you and your child’s current needs. Whether that means supporting you directly or supporting your child directly, we will create a plan together that benefits your family. Therapy does not have to feel like a dreaded task. It can feel like something you’re looking forward to, like the space you need to let out a sigh of relief.
